Living in Northumberland and working as an Architect in Durham , Neil Turner combines a level of detail with a minimalist style in his approach to artwork.

I undertake drawings and paintings for my own pleasure and commissions involving buildings , townscapes , boats and landscapes .

I trained as an Architect and have been privileged to have had a very successful and award winning career .

My artwork is partly a reflection of my architectural skills, but also the freedom that art brings .

I love proportion , scale and a sense of balance; but equally art is about what you see and draw , not just drawing everything you see.

Art is a reflection of how your mind sees an object - whether a house , a boat or old ruin set in a landscape . So my drawings and paintings typically have a simplicity ( of colour ) in combination with space and detail .

My interest takes me across the Northern Counties and abroad. In fact I always have a sketch book to hand.
